Where Nature and Literacy Grow
The Forest School program at Alerces “El Bosque de Alerces” is based on a fundamental respect for children and their capacity for inquiry, curiosity and adventurous approach in the natural world. We love to introduce the students to the beauty and wonder of the forest just outside our doors at Alerces. At times we bring objects with us into the woods to enhance creative play, and other times we let children’s playful imaginations lead their exploration and play.

The benefits of forest school reach far beyond the obvious enjoyment of connecting with nature and the environment around us. The Forest School program at Alerces Spanish Preschool & Kindergarten invites students to discover and experiment in the forest at Churchill Park. Children who participate in our Forest School Program demonstrate and benefit from the following outcomes:

Minimum number of students required: 7
Eligibility: Students must be enrolled at Alerces in either the Preschool or Kindergarten program to participate in the Forest School program.

Safety Procedures
The Forest School Program safety procedures ensure a successful outdoor experience for all children and include a Risk Assessment, Safety and Health Procedures and Emergency Procedures.
Cancellation Procedure
Forest School will take place in all kinds of weather except when:
the temperature is colder than -25 C
winds speed are higher than 35 mph
there is an electrical storm
there is heavy rain
the minimum ratio cannot be achieved
